WASHINGTON, D.C. — October 5, 2026 — The Office of the Special Envoy for U.S. Trade and Investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia, convened the second stop of the Invest in Liberia Roadshow in Washington, D.C., advancing the Ministry’s broader economic diplomacy agenda and connecting a targeted portfolio of Liberian investment opportunities with U.S. capital, development finance, technical expertise, and transaction capability.

The Washington engagement was honored by the participation of H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Cabinet of the Republic of Liberia, whose presence reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to using economic diplomacy as a practical instrument for investment mobilization, commercial engagement, and national development.

The Invest in Liberia Roadshow is championed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and convened and executed through the Office of the Special Envoy for U.S. Trade and Investment, under the leadership of Hon. Isaac E. Taggart, Jr.

The Washington stop was co-hosted with the U.S.-Africa Business Center, whose partnership helped bring together approximately 30 American investors, institutional stakeholders, development finance representatives, technical partners, and transaction professionals for a closed-door, investment-focused roundtable.

Special Envoy Taggart expressed appreciation to Dr. Guevara Yao and the U.S.-Africa Business Center team for their partnership in organizing and co-hosting the Washington engagement.

“The purpose of the Invest in Liberia Roadshow is not simply to repeat the familiar ‘come and invest’ message,” said Special Envoy Taggart. “We are deliberately placing a select group of opportunities before institutions that can provide capital, technical expertise, risk mitigation, development finance, operating capability, and transaction support. Our objective is to leave each engagement with greater clarity on what is required to move opportunities forward, and who is best positioned to help do it.”

The roundtable included participation from key U.S. development and investment institutions, including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

MCC representatives provided participants with insight into Liberia’s Compact engagement and the institution’s evolving areas of focus, adding an important development-finance and policy perspective to the discussion.

The Washington portfolio centered on opportunities across critical minerals, value-added mineral processing, strategic infrastructure, energy, ports, and logistics. Rather than presenting a broad catalogue of projects, the Office introduced a deliberately selected group of opportunities intended to generate substantive discussion around investment readiness, technical diligence, financing structures, risk mitigation, and potential pathways toward execution.

Among the opportunities highlighted were the Nimba Lithium Development Platform, the Grand Gedeh Battery Materials Hub, the Port of Buchanan and its broader Atlantic gateway and corridor potential, and the Saint Paul II Hydropower Project.

The discussion also emphasized that Washington’s investment ecosystem extends beyond traditional equity capital. Participants represented institutions and firms capable of providing debt financing, guarantees, political-risk insurance, technical assistance, infrastructure operating expertise, transaction structuring, and other forms of support required to advance major projects.

For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Roadshow represents a broader evolution in Liberia’s approach to diplomacy, one that increasingly connects international engagement to measurable economic outcomes.

Through its economic diplomacy mandate, the Ministry is working to leverage Liberia’s bilateral relationships to mobilize investment, expand commercial partnerships, promote trade, strengthen strategic infrastructure, and position the country more competitively within regional and global value chains.

The Office also acknowledged First Secretary Joetta M. Addy of the Embassy of Liberia in Washington, D.C., for her support and continued contribution to Liberia–U.S. trade and investment engagement.

The Washington session follows the inaugural stop of the Invest in Liberia Roadshow and forms part of a broader U.S. engagement strategy designed to take Liberia’s investment opportunities directly to relevant capital markets, institutions, industry clusters, and strategic partners.

For the Office of the Special Envoy, success will ultimately be measured not simply by expressions of interest, but by the ability to convert engagement into defined next steps, deeper diligence, institutional partnerships, and ultimately transactions that contribute to Liberia’s long-term economic transformation.

Invest in Liberia. Intentionally.
