The Office of the Special Envoy for U.S. Trade & Investment, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia, was proud to facilitate and host a country visit by a high-level delegation from Astria Learning, a globally recognized U.S.-based EdTech firm delivering innovative digital education solutions across emerging markets.

This visit marked a critical step forward in the Government of Liberia’s efforts to forge impactful public-private partnerships in higher education and drive digital transformation within the academic landscape.

During the multi-day working visit, the Astria Learning delegation held in-depth consultations and discovery sessions with key stakeholders across the national education architecture, including the Ministry of Education, National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), and University of Liberia leadership.

These engagements centered on Liberia’s urgent need to modernize higher education systems, expand digital learning access, and strengthen institutional capacity across both public and private universities.

The company expressed strong interest in co-developing tailored solutions for Liberia’s unique education needs, ranging from core infrastructure and systems support to establishing post-graduate online certificate programs for the University of Liberia.

Liberian stakeholders welcomed Astria’s interest and innovation with open arms. The University of Liberia in particular emphasized its commitment to becoming a leader in digital higher education and its desire to pilot technology-forward initiatives. Officials from the Ministry of Education and NCHE echoed the urgency of equipping Liberia’s post-secondary institutions for the future of learning.

“This is the kind of forward-thinking collaboration that aligns with Liberia’s national priorities,” said Hon. Isaac Taggart, Jr., Special Envoy for U.S. Trade & Investment. “We believe this engagement can produce scalable impact and help elevate Liberia’s academic institutions onto the global stage.”
