On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia, the Office of the Special Envoy for U.S. Trade & Investment was honored to host and facilitate the official country visit of a high-level delegation from Tarpeh Global Initiative (TGI), led by Chairman & CEO Mr. James Tarpeh.
The purpose of this mission was to advance strategic discussions surrounding TGI’s flagship infrastructure initiative: the development of a 300-megawatt power plant and a complementary liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility. This project is envisioned to be a transformative solution to mitigate Liberia’s longstanding energy deficits, while simultaneously catalyzing industrial growth, job creation, and regional energy security.
The TGI delegation engaged in a series of technical consultations and site reconnaissance visits with:
- Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC)
- TRANSCO-CLSG (Côte d’Ivoire–Liberia–Sierra Leone–Guinea Interconnection)
These sessions provided the technical groundwork and due diligence required to accelerate the pre-development phase of the proposed power infrastructure.
The mission was further elevated by high-level engagements with:
- H.E. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.
- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sara Beysolow Nyanti
These meetings emphasized the Government of Liberia’s unwavering commitment to energy expansion, investment facilitation, and cross-border public-private partnerships. Discussions covered land acquisition, regulatory pathways, local capacity building, and broader U.S.–Liberia economic cooperation.
